MyWeku readers should be familiar with Mama Hope, a group that campaigns through some hard hitting messages and videos to re-frame the way the Western world views Africa.
The last of the Mama Hope videos we had the pleasure of putting up was “Stop the Pity; Unlock the potential” . The other Mama Hope videos include “9 year old Alex re-enacts commando” (640,000 viewes) and “African men – Hollywood stereotypes” (1.5 million views)
Mama Hope has just released their latest pre-viral video which has the aim of celebrating the success of African women. The theme revolves around Netball.
There is ofcourse a serious side to Mama Hope apart from producing amazing viral video. Mama Hope works with communities to start orphanages, improve sanitation and reduce poverty. The group currently has 32 projects in four countries and an annual budget of about $500,000.
