A documentary about the plight of widows in Southern Africa: “Widows don’t die anymore”
Duration: 13 mins – Around the world, Widows face some of the greatest obstacles yet also represent tremendous opportunity for lasting social and economic development. In Africa, Widows bear a disproportionate burden of the world’s poverty and their ability to have a decent life is limited (they perform 66 percent of the world’s work and produce 50 percent of the food but they only earn 10 percent of the income and own 1 percent of the property).
This documentary highlights some of the challenges that widows face. El Hammar Castano, the Director, has already won 2 prizes for her work on this documentary. The documentary was also shown at FESPACO.
