This is one of those ghost videos that will divide opinions. The video shows footage of a skinny figure (the ghost), most likely male who suddenly appears at the exit of a community centre building in South Ruislip, England. The centre, it may be interesting to note, was used in the 1940s as a prisoner of war camp during world war 2. The video has garnered over a quarter of a million hits on youtube and continues to generate debates about its validity. There is no doubt that a male figure appears in the footage, however, what is causing controversy is whether or not the figure is a ghost, a figment of our imagination or an easily explainable CCTV technical trick.
What lends a degree of credibility to this video are the comments made by the community centre’s caretaker.
‘I was sitting inside the hall and noticed a figure on the front CCTV camera,’ the caretaker is quoted as saying in the video. ‘I looked up at the screen and thought I saw a person but wasn’t sure so went out to check.’He added: ‘I went outside and no one was there but I thought they might have quickly walked around the side of the building into the park so I just went back in. ‘After downloading the CCTV footage I was surprised to see that the figure had been recorded onto the system. ‘I can’t explain this.’
