Is indigenous African food as healthy as it is delicious?

Traditional African food varies enormously from one part of Africa to another. We know that! However, there tends to be similarities between regions. Jollof rice is pretty much a staple for all of West Africa whereas couscous tends to hold sway in North Africa.

In the age of obesity and diabetes, perhaps as a consequence of more sedentary lifestyles it has become imperative to ask if traditional African food and more specifically the methods used in preparing such dishes do more harm than good. Is the tradional jollof rice, a rice dish that is delicious and budget friendly not that healthy? Are other foods that are minimally processed foods and tend to be vastly superior in nutrition and taste more healthy?

We want to stir up excitement and expose all to the delicious, easy-to-prepare, nutritious foods and flavors of Africa.

The best way to inspire healthy eating is with food that tastes great so if you know any that you believe are healthy (however you define healthy) please feel to share that below.
