Kony 2012: Part 2 – The saga continues

Even though the  original Joseph Kony 2012 video was watched by over a 100 million viewers worldwide, the film was criticised for lacking in accuracy especially by African commentators. The film was thought by some to have exagerated the scale of the conflict and given Joseph Kony a status that was bound to increase the mystery that surrounds the cult figure.

The makers of the film, Invincible Children, have released a sequel to Kony 2012 dubbed Kony 2012 Part 2. Kony 2012 part 2 is 20 minutes long and hopes to provide context and document events not seen in the first film.

Kony 2012 part 2 like the original aims to bring pressure to bear on politicians both in Africa and elsewhere to track down the warlord and cult leader who is thought to have been responsible for some of the most heinous crimes committed in the East Africa region.

Film Synopsis: Beyond Famous offers a closer look at the LRA and explores the solutions put forward by leaders of the currently-affected areas of CAR, DRC, and South Sudan, where local communities continue to live under the constant threat of LRA violence. This generation has responded to the call to make Joseph Kony famous. Now we need to dig deeper and turn awareness into informed action. That starts with sharing this film and continues with participating in Cover the Night, the advocacy and awareness event taking place worldwide on April 20th.
