This a a worrying video of a Head Master of a scool in the Ivory Coast shown beating two students on the 14th of December 2011 for apparently setting off firecrackers in the school’s premises. Two are seen standing by while the Head Master metes out his punishment.
Understandably nerves are a little frayed in Ivory Coast given the recent political violence and civil war that led to scores of rival militas slaughtering each other. Even so, given that the setting of fire crackers during Christmas is a tradition that happens virtually in every country in Africa, this beating seems extremely excessive.
