According to the results of the IDG’s latest “iPad for Business Survey”, African professionals are almost twice as likely as the global average to use an iPad purchased by their employer than their colleagues elsewhere in the world.
47% of African respondents said they own a corporate-issue iPad compared to the global average of 24%.
E-editor of IDG Connect Kathryn Cave says: “This must in part be due to vast emphasis on mobile technology across the continent, but I also wonder if it provides more evidence of the rapid consumerisation of society and meteoric rise of an elite middle class.”
Other revelations:
- The regional variations are significant. IT and business professionals in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America are least likely to continue buying newspapers once they acquire an iPad.
- The numbers who “always” use their iPad “on the move” are highest in Asia (97%), Europe (90%) and Africa (80%).
- IT and business professionals do resemble consumers: they mostly use their iPads for media consumption.
