Once in a blue moon you come across a piece of the African blogosphere or web space that you can’t help but tell others about. This is one of those. The name of the website is 3bute (3bute.com) – pronounced tribute! This is a cool and unique idea brought on stream by Bunmi Oloruntoba, an artist and blogger, and Emmanuel Iduma, co-publisher of an online literary magazine.
Bunmi and Emanuel describe this space as “an online anthology devoted to the question of African modernity. Along that theme, we look on the web for what writers–especially African bloggers–have written and we recycle/ adapt selected writing into 3 pages of narrative art. The pages are then delivered through the Comicpress engine combined with ThingLink’s unobtrusive rich media tagging tool, resulting in what we like to call a “mashable surface”.
Here is a piece below. Do hover or click on the dots – That should give you an idea of what the site is about. They do want feedback so do feel free to head over to the site to leave a comment or two.
