Uganda’s much anticipated first home built electric car was successfully tested today. The Makerere University built elctric car will be formally launched by President Yoweri Museveni on November 18.
The project lead, Tickodri Togboa, a professor of mechanical engineering had this to say about the electric car project ”We wanted to demonstrate we are capable. After, we shall scale up and produce a seven-seater. It is this version that will become commercial” Team leader Paul Musasizi also added “We named it Kiira EV because we are fascinated about green energy and the first electricity generation in Uganda was at Kiira”.
