The LA Times reports that “Heavy D, real name Dwight Arrington Myers, had trouble breathing when he arrived home after a shopping trip. He was conscious when authorities arrived, but died later at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Authorities said that he may have died from complications of pneumonia, with a source telling The Times’ Andrew Blankstein the rapper had seen a doctor for a cough in recent days.”

He recently sent out a twit with the words – BE INSPIRED!

One of the founding member of his group paid this tribute to him: “We were only young kids out of high school when we got into the game just wanting to make fun music filled with love and excitement. We always had so much fun as a group. I cherish all the happy times we had together while unknowingly helping to build the movement and legacy we call Uptown Records” … adding, “I love you Hev and we all will miss you so much.”
