Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, the Egyptian blogger who posed nude on her blog continues to be at the center of heated debates in her home country of Egypt and elsewhere. Some of the comments online have been scathing of the 20 year old atheist, including this culled from the comment section of the YouTube video below - “I never knew that bravery was related to being a whore .Way to go Aliaa! you’re now a great example for those who wish to become prostitutes! can’t wait to see you on Broadway BITCH!”

Not all is gloom and doom for Aliaa Magda Elmahdy though. The video below is a love song dedicated to the Egyptian feminist. There are of course plenty of people who find Aliaa’s protest inspirational, as the following comment to this video, authored presumably by a fellow Arab shows “A woman with a beautiful body. I never understood why so many arab/muslim women cover their beauty. We shouldn’t be ashamed of our bodies, its like a beautiful sunset or the snow covered alps, there to be viewed as part of the wonders of the world we live in.”
