Music Weekly: Richard Sowah (Reezon)

Ghana’s Richard Sowah or Reezon as he is popularly known came to our attention when he made a determined stand against Ghana’s Payola System. Payola is a common corrupt practice that requires musicians to pay what is effectively a bribe to get airplay on local radio stations. The practice stifles talented musicians who may not have the funds needed to bribe their way through getting airplay and rewards mediocrity.

Richard (Reezon) owns an entertainment entity called Rych Entertainment.  It “strives to be a leading African Entertainment company operating in a broad range of areas, including recording, music publishing, artist management, television & film production, marketing, advertising, concert promotions, and more.”

Richard Sowah who was born in Ghana is also a recording artist. He is the son of a famous Ghanaian footballer and a graduate in Electrical Engineering from a United States University. ReeZon raps in Ga and Twi both local Ghanaian languages as well as in English and Pidgin English.
