Using a bottle of water and bleach to “power” your home
Millions of families in Africa and elsewhere go without electric light. As the continent develops and industrialises it is not foolhardy to expect electricity to be widely available. In the meantime MIT has developed a pretty simple way of getting light into dark houses and rooms. All that is needed are: a hole in the roof, a bottle of water, and some bleach.
The bleach and water solution refracts sunlight, “lighting” the insides of rooms. As you can imagine, it costs next to nothing and the strenght of the light is equivalent to a 55- to 60-watt bulb.
