A new species of cockroach is causing some excitement in the scientific world. ”leaproach” was discovered in the Table Mountain National Park by scientists from the University of Cape Town. (Mike Picker / University of Cape Town).

South African officials have unofficially named it Leaproach, because the one-centimetre insect can jump. It appears to be a cross between a cockroach, cricket and grasshopper. The Leaproach has been named as one of the top 10 new species for 2011.
