From Tunisia to Egypt social media has been instrumental in organising protests. Despite constant efforts by dictatorships to block these sites its users find a myriad of clever ways to get around any barriers put in front of them.
The importance of social media does not end there. Activists, demonstrators and protestors are able to send real time messages about what is really happening on the ground and shape conversations sometimes hours before the mainstream media outlets catch up.
