2nd instalment of “Philosophical Entrapment”
Simplicity is Perfection – 1st instalment of “philosophical Entrapement”
I feel that I should perhaps introduce “the project of artificial intelligence” at greater length. The first post just delved into the meat of it without providing a domain in which to explore the idea.
While I continue to work on this artificial intelligence project, I cannot move forward until I unearth and mould a conglomerate of concepts to reflect the nature (even remotely) of an average human being. The primary objective of this project is to find a way to mimic the general sway unto which one (or many) may react under different circumstances.
There is no doubt in my mind that the reconstruction of creative intelligence will be a significant breakthrough in human development. With that in mind, I openly invite all the thinkers of myWeku to engage in this discussion to align the paraphernalia of intelligence. For me, I think this project could yield great cohesion for the coming generations. More so, it will allow us to take a quantum leap into the future. We can produce machines, tools or software that can predict our general behaviour (under a spectrum of circumstances). We can also be able to simulate how people would react to different political policies and simulate the impact of different social activities (like industrialization in certain areas and so much more).
Some years ago, Kwame Nkrumah was eventually despised for forcing industrialization on Ghana. It was said that his projects, with hefty price tags, were robbing the very people who were meant to benefit from the new socio-political order (of freedom and independence). Today however, Ghana is the fastest growing economy in the world. I am convinced that, if there were a tool to predict the social knee jerks of certain policies that he enacted, Ghana would be light years ahead of where it is now (not to mention South Africa and its somnambulating economic body).
Ten thousand years go, agriculture was a great breakthrough in human development. People no longer had to hunt and gather food. They could manipulate nature to make food appear in their vicinity; today this is called farming. This led to the formation of communities and thereafter cities, as we know them today.
Some two hundred years ago, the next breakthrough (after agriculture) was industrialization. Industrialization is a process of manipulating elements to produce machines that in turn produce consumables (and perhaps other tools). No longer was it necessary to rely on human limbs (and their many flaws) to produce products consistently. This has led to the production computers that we now use to communicate and create wealth (among many other developments).
Today, it has dawned upon me that the next breakthrough is upon us. It is clear beyond reasonable doubt that we are seriously incapable of judging and responding the ever changing dynamics of our immediate surroundings (socially, economically, politically, environmentally, spiritually and otherwise) and because of that, we fail to implement otherwise well formulated strategies.
I can justify this assumption with the following statements:
If this (assumption) were false, only ten percent (10%) of businesses would fail, instead of ninety (90%).
If this were false, I’m certain that divorce would be lost in the dense fog of scarcity.
If this were false, we would know that there is no physical antidote to heal a spiritual ailment.
If this were false, we would be aware of a simple arithmetic that sums up the fact that a new tree should planted for every page we turn.
If this were false, we would know that all men are children of the same Father and because of that, it is sacrilegious to live one moment outside the neighbourhood of brotherhood.
Having said that, I am convinced that this must be done. I am convinced that this is doable. I am convinced that this will be done.
In this journey (this project), I have also slammed into people that feel intimidated by this kind of thing (artificial intelligence). To them I say, do not be because those who choose not to involve themselves such matters find themselves swaying helplessly in the floods of their effects (take a look for instance, those who choose not to care about politics)
Other people simply feel that this is ridiculous. To them, I brandish the story of the Wright brothers who faced much torment and ridicule on their journey to create the first controlled flying object. Today, their bravery has landed man on the moon. I also recall Charles Lindberg and his ambitious non-stop flight across the pacific, whose determination later justified an airborne world war two and the commercialization of air travel. These people (and more) form the bedrock of my determination.
I do this outside the domain of any philosophical or psychological training or formal engagement with its scholars. Many of my views of life have changed over the years but what has remained constant is the idea that one who is educated from a zero (knowledge) base simply becomes a submissive twig in the gale of the evolution of collective knowledge. On the other hand, one who develops a structured skeleton based on genuine curiosity and interest tends to use external knowledge exponentially.
I would like to conclude by asking you to think with me as I walk this important journey. Invest in this journey.
Be part of a new breakthrough in human development.
I will continue to share the framework of this project on this space with the hope of attracting friends who do not mind reshaping the order of the world today.
