If ever there was a way of capturing the essence of Sole Rebels it would have to be summarised in three words, “Roots, Culture, Tires.” This Ethiopian outfit founded by Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu produce eco friendly footwear with 100% Ethiopian sourced materials.
As Bethlehem Alemu stated recently in Tadias “We decided to create the “better life” we were all waiting for by harnessing our community’s incredible artisan skills and channeling them into a sustainable, global, fair trade footwear business. We have done that and more and we are proud to say that the soleRebels brand is being enjoyed by people in over 10 countries around the world”. In a recent feature on CNN, Sole Rebels was described as producing “zero-emission” handcraft sandals and shoes from organic and recycled materials.
In a recent feature in the documentary An African Journey, Bethlehem Alemu said she hopes to bring in $500,000 in 2010/11 and to continue to expand the business.
