From Afroklectic: I am Gillean Opoku an Australian-Ghanaian design student. I was born in Australia to Ghanaian parents. I decided to create ‘afroklectic’ as a platform for African creatives around the world (esp. Australia) to showcase their creativity whether in design, fashion, art, music, poetry etc. When it comes to creativity in Africa, it is often associated with safari paintings, zebra stripes and scary leopard prints. I hope ‘afroklectic’ is able to demonstrate to you that there is much more to Africa.
Artists’ Intent by Eyiram Dokli
‘to understand ones present and discover ones future we need not look forward but rather back to our ancestry, forefathers and forbears. For to know ones history is to ensure that the mistakes of it will never be repeated and its legacy never depleted’
See Afroklectic for this interesting piece in its entirety.

St. Andrews Park 393
In front of effingham road
In between leopold, melita
Somerville and Maurice road
The park lies
Around round the park
Hedges for fences for boarders
In contours of waves in topography
With angles of locations for favourite spots
Trees for shades, the sun too hot
That swing, the pool
And bench for play spots
The dogs, barks, run and fetch
Butterflies on pollen duty
Bees busy with nectar’s harvest
Ben & Jerry’s on drops in drips in mouths
For the happily young and bright
Coffee spots for parents rest
Lust, love, insight and lost
Summer breaks from academia climb
Happy, funny, sunny joys
On the park summer is enjoyed
