In this four part series MyWeku will explore an area of social media that has so far been left untouched by African Startups.
Flickr, Zoomr and Photobucket to mention a few are some of the most popular photo sharing sites available. African Photo sharing sites showcasing Africans going about their daily activities are thin on the ground. MyWeku managed to track down two of these. Mokocharlie.com and AfricaKnows.com
Africa Knows aims “To tell a different story about Africa” and is run by Sheila Ochugboju and Joshua Wanyama.
“Using the tools of digital media and social networks, Africa Knows will bring together the best of photojournalism drawn from across the continent and the most active and creative new writing to tell a different story”
Mokocharlie is the brain child of Kwaku Chintoh a web designer and photographer from Ghana. A self confessed Photoshop, Corel Draw, Fireworks and Flash addict, Kwaku started Mokocharlie as a clothing line with pals from Kokomlemle in Accra.
Kwabena Aning, a web and Information Systems Manager who lives in the UK is the technical brain behind Mokocharlie.com
MyWeku will delve deeper to bring you the inspirational stories that lie behind these pioneers in our four part series on African Photo Sharing sites.
